I am a sophomore journalism student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill pursuing a career in print journalism. I have previously served as a student board member of the North Carolina Scholastic Media Association, a student lobbyist for the Student Press Law Center and a staff writer on the University Desk and The Daily Tar Heel. I am currently the Assistant Copy Editor at the DTH.
I love having conversations. I believe every single person has a story, and I want to hear all of them. But not everyone has the opportunity to use their voice. To me, journalism is about giving a voice to the voiceless. It is of the utmost importance we use our power as journalists to boost the voices of the underrepresented, disadvantaged and vulnerable.
